Who are Our Couples?
We film couples across Ayrshire and the west of Scotland who love a full-on party, ones who just want a chill, relaxed day, and all those in-between.
We film couples who are shy, couples who worry they'll be uncomfortable in front of a camera, and even couples who aren't entirely sure about having a videographer to begin with.
The one consistency with all of them? They just want to be able to relax and enjoy themselves, while we work in the background capturing everything.
We capture a day they can share with loved ones who couldn't be there. A day their children might one day watch back on a loop. A day that goes by ridiculously quickly — and we love the privilege of documenting it for you.

Getting Married in Ayrshire?
Ayrshire is practically home turf for us. After years of filming weddings across the area, we've worked at wedding venues throughout Ayrshire — from grand country houses and castles to coastal hotels, barns and smaller, more intimate celebrations.
We've filmed at many of Ayrshire's best-known wedding venues, including places such as Brig o' Doon, Lochside House Hotel, Enterkine House, Seamill Hydro and Glenapp Castle, along with countless others across North, South and East Ayrshire.
That familiarity is useful. We often already know the venue layout, where the light works beautifully, how the day tends to flow and the little practical quirks that only become obvious after you've worked somewhere before. But we never want two weddings at the same venue to end up looking like the same film.
Our documentary approach means we're much more interested in what's happening between the people than ticking off a standard list of venue shots. The reactions, conversations, ridiculous laughter and unexpected moments are what make one wedding completely different from the next.
And being Ayrshire, we're also quite accustomed to beautiful outdoor plans being enthusiastically reconsidered by the Scottish weather.
Whether you're getting married on the coast, in the countryside or somewhere we've filmed more times than we can count, you can concentrate on having your wedding. We'll concentrate on remembering it.
Who are we?
Olive & Thistle was founded by two Canadians happily based in the west of Scotland for 10 years now, filming weddings all over Scotland, the UK, Europe and the World. Before that we worked in the Television and Radio industries for over a decade, and enjoyed working with each other so much we decided to get married ourselves! With our 11 year-old son and a scrappy cavapoo named Waffles we are proudly a family-run business. (Though the dog does little-to-no admin).

How much does a Ayrshire wedding videographer cost?
Our all-inclusive full coverage wedding package is £2,250, with two videographers covering your day from preparations until the third dance. Elopement, twilight and single-videographer packages are available from £1,500.
Do you travel throughout Ayrshire and the surrounding area?
Absolutely. We're based just outside Glasgow and regularly film weddings throughout the west of Scotland. We also travel throughout Scotland, the UK and further afield.
We're awkward on camera. Is that a problem?
Not remotely. Lots of our couples tell us exactly the same thing. Our documentary approach means you won't spend your wedding day performing for us — we'd much rather capture what's actually happening.
Have you filmed at our Ayrshire wedding venue before?
Quite possibly! We've filmed at venues throughout Ayrshire. Tell us where you're getting married when you enquire and, if we've been there before, we'll happily show you relevant work. If we haven't, that's no problem either — we love filming somewhere new.
Do you work alongside our photographer?
Yes. We regularly work alongside photographers and approach the day as a team. We're all there for the same reason: to give you brilliant memories without turning your wedding into a photoshoot or film set.
Can you use a drone at Ayrshire wedding venues?
Drone filming is included in our full wedding package where it can be flown safely and legally. Weather, airspace and individual venue restrictions can sometimes mean flying isn't possible on the day.
How long are you there on our wedding day?
Our full coverage package includes two videographers from preparations through to the third dance, so we're there for considerably more than just the ceremony.
What films do we receive?
Our full package includes a 3–5 minute highlights film, a full 45–90 minute wedding film containing your ceremony and speeches, a 30-second teaser and a 60-second vertical social film.
